Lawrence F. Rooney, of Plymouth, formerly of South Boston, died on January 17th at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital at Plymouth at the age of 86. The beloved husband of the late Dorothy (Almeida) Rooney, he is survived by his son Lawrence J. Rooney of Middlesex, VT; and his daughters Joanne M. Fleming of Plymouth and Carole R. May of Buzzards Bay. He also leaves his brothers Thomas, Frank, and Fred, his sister Patricia Rooney and his 6 cherished grandchildren Bobby, Ben and Cam Fleming and Donny, Owen and Carley May. Larry was born in Boston and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was awarded the Purple Heart. He was a master plumber and was co-owner of Alden Plumbing and had also worked for the Army Corp of Engineers. He was a member of the DAV, VFW, the American Legion, the Knights of Columbus and the Woodchucks.
